The training plan combines presentations, lectures, student participation, practical exercises and a final Field Training Exercise (FTX) all focused on teaching individual and unit skills needed to operate safely and effectively in riverine and open coastal environments.

Subject matter includes instruction in personnel embarking and debarking craft, safe insertion and extraction, waterproofing and care of equipment, correct driving of the boats, pre and post boat checks, maintenance plans and emergency procedures. Training culminates with a practical exercise.
